How to apply: 2022 Small Business Support Program

The 2022 Small Business Support program provides cash flow support to help businesses survive the immediate impacts of the current Omicron wave of COVID-19. Eligible businesses will receive a lump sum payment covering the four-week period of February 2022 by providing them with the equivalent of 20% of weekly payroll for work performed in NSW.

  • The minimum payment will be $750 per week, and

  • The maximum payment will be $5,000 per week.

  • Non-employing businesses will receive $500 per week.

    • Had an ABN and were operating in NSW on 1 January 2021.

    • Had an aggregated turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million for the 2020 or 2021 financial years.

    • Experienced a decline in turnover of 40% or more due to the impacts of COVID-19 during the month of January 2022, compared to January 2021 or January 2020, and

    • Experienced a decline in turnover of 40% or more due to the impacts of COVID-19 from 1-14 February 2022 compared to the same fortnight in February in the comparison year used for January.

    • Maintain their employee headcount from 30 January to 28 February 2022.

    • Business must have experienced a decline in turnover due to COVID-19 which has, for example, impacted the business through reduced consumer demand, labour shortages and supply chain disruptions.

    • Business cannot be primarily earning passive income (rent, interest, or dividends).

    • For non-employing businesses, ,the business receiving the payments must be the primary source of income for the associated individual.

  • To be eligible for the 2022 Business Support Program, you must declare that the turnover of the business has been impacted by COVID-19 as a result of:

    • a reduction in operations due to density, singing, or dancing restrictions

    • a reduction in your products due to density, singing, or dancing restrictions

    • a reduction or change in trading hours due to density, singing, or dancing restrictions

    • your business has shut due to density, singing or dancing restrictions

    • a drop in customer spending

    • your business has had to shut, reduce trading hours, services, or products due to employees having to self-isolate

    • your business has had to shut, reduce trading hours, services, or products due to supply disruptions and labour shortages

  • The payment can be used to cover business costs and to help businesses survive the immediate impacts of the Omicron wave of COVID-19. these costs may include, but are not limited to:

    • salaries and wages

    • utilities and rent

    • financial, legal or other advice

    • marketing and communications

    • perishable goods, or

    • other business costs

  • Applications open on February 16 2022 and close after 11:59pm on 29th April 2022. Applications can be made through Service NSW using this link.

    Evidence required to complete the online application:

    If the business has employees they must provide:

    • declaration of employee headcount on 30 January 2022; and

    • declaration that they will maintain their employee headcount over the period from 30 January to 28 February 2022

    • evidence of how the weekly payroll amount was calculated (e.g. most recently lodged BAS or IAS for the 2022 financial year)

    • most recently lodged Income Tax Return (2020 or 2021) to demonstrate the business had an aggregated turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million

    If the business does not have employees they must provide:

    • declaration that the business is the primary income source for the individual associated with the business

    • most recently lodged Income Tax Return (2020 or 2021) to demonstrate the business had an aggregated turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million

    For businesses directly impacted by the Public Health Order (industries directly impacted):

    • declaration that they have experienced the required decline in turnover

    • identify how the Public Health Order has directly impacted the turnover of the business

    Other businesses not directly impacted by the Public Health Order:

    • a letter from a qualified accountant, registered tax agent or BAS agent

    • declaration that they have experienced the required decline in turnover

    • identify how the Public Health Order has directly impacted the turnover of the business
